Hubbert peak theory on wikipedia – pretty comprehensive for an encyclopedia entry. Wolf at the door – A beginners guide to PO . Energy Bulletin – A frequently updated site that compiles PO related articles from other sources and some original content. peakoil.com – Updated frequently, excerpts and links to articles. Also has a quite active and generally well-educated group of posters in their peak oil forum. See also their links page. The Oil Drum – the best blog on PO, bar none. Some editors and users are insiders or tech experts and the discussion can get pretty technical. (New York sister site at OilDrumNYC) ASPO – Association for the study of Peak Oil and Gas (Colin Campbell’s brainchild). ASPO Ireland – better layout than the original above, much of the same content. From the Wilderness – Mike Ruppert, author of Crossing the Rubicon, maintains this site and offers commentary on PO related articles and some original content. surviving peak oil – Dale Allen Pfeiffer’s site with interesting essays on post-crash scenarios, see also his blog at lulu Life After the Oil Crash – Matt Savinar’s site, pretty doomerish and excellent source of info. DieOff.com an alarming but scholarly collection of research. The original Peak Oil website. Clusterfuck Nation – Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency, blogs weekly with cultural and political commentary on various PO related topics. Museletter – Richard Heinberg, author of The Party’s Over and Powerdown, updates his site irregularily with speech transcripts and other writings. Peak Oil Center - a very concise introduction. Post Carbon Institute – Not frequently updated enough, but a good hub and resource to make local connections. hubbertspeak.com – “Named after the late Dr. M. King Hubbert, Geophysicist, this website provides data, analysis and recommendations regarding the upcoming peak in the rate of global oil extraction.” http://www.inthewake.org/ – A Collective Manual-in-progress for Outliving Civilization Culture Change Newsletter – Jan Lundberg’s site dieoff – “A population crash resource page” – I don’t think Hanson is updating it anymore (I know that he has a yahoo group that he still maintains), but there are a ton of useful archived articles. Petrocollapse Conference 2005 – audio and transcripts of conference presentations. Oil Awareness Meet Ups
is a grass roots awareness raising network helping people
meet up and discuss peak oil. Join or start a meet-up in your
neighborhood.
Industry, professional, and government sites International Energy Agency – IEA – An intergovernmental body committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation US DoE’s Energy Information
Administration US Government’s Minerals Management Service – updated info on rigs and production (was very useful after the hurricanes). Society of Petroleum Engineers Oil and Gas Journal – Industry news. Rigzone – Also industry news but somewhat more on point (in the online version) than O&GJ. National Commission on Energy Policy – Info on the Oil Shockwave Exercise available here. Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Inc. – CERA – Daniel Yergin and the anti-peak, market-based soft transition folks who do a good job of spreading a gentler view of depletion (always note who funds them). Matt Simmons – a good counter to the CERA folks, Simmons is author of Twilight in the Desert and an investment banker who is a strong proponent of weaning off of oil asap. Chevron’s ‘Will You Join Us?’ – Just for fun check out an industry major’s admission of peak oil and efforts at mitigation.
