What is Peak Oil?
Colin Campbell: "The term Peak Oil
refers the maximum rate of the production of oil in any area
under consideration, recognizing that it is a finite natural
resource, subject to depletion."
Colin Campbell

"Let's look at it simply. The most
important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that
economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims
on a sea of oil." *
US deputy defence secretary, Paul
Wolfowitz, in Singapore, 31 May-1 June, 2003

"...for reasons that have a lot to do
with the US government bureaucracy, we settled on the one issue
that everyone could agree on: weapons of mass destruction."
Paul Wolfowitz, Vanity Fair magazine, May 2003

"Is there any man, is there any woman, let me say any child here,
that does not know that the seed of war in the modern world is
industrial and commercial rivalry?" --Woodrow Wilson, a year after the first world war ended

-
- As far back as 1898 with
the explosion of the Battleship Maine, the United States has
established a pattern of orchestrated military provocations to
mobilize public opinion towards future military aggression. These
covertly engineered operations are pretexts to act as a defensive
cover for retaliation followed by a massive public relations
campaign to stir up American patriotism to send our boys off to
fight for multinational
corporations.
-
- . We see this
repeatedly with Roosevelt and Pearl Harbor, the gulf of Tonkin
incident in Vietnam and can even read the now declassified "Northwood Documents" which
detail the downing of commercial jet liners as a provocation to war
with Fidel Castro.

Former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski publishes a
book in which he portrays the Eurasian landmass as the key to world
power, and Central Asia with its vast oil reserves as the key to
domination of Eurasia. He states that for the US to maintain its
global primacy, it must prevent any possible adversary from
controlling that region. He notes, “The attitude of the American
public toward the external projection of American power has been
much more ambivalent. The public supported America’s engagement in
World War II largely because of the shock effect of the Japanese
attack on Pearl Harbor.” He predicts that because of popular
resistance to US military expansionism, his ambitious Central Asian
strategy can not be implemented “except in the circumstance of a
truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat.” [Brzezinski,
1997]

Dwindling Oil and 9/11
(audio)
by Unwelcome Guests
Collective
Presentations by independent investigators at the international
inquiry on 9/11 held in San Francisco in March. We will place 9/11
in context of the planet's dwindling oil resources and the
closed-door decisions about how to deal with the phenomenon of peak
oil that have apparently already been made by the Ameican power
elites - to defend corporate capitalism at any cost, even if that
means species extinction. This places 9/11 in a high stakes context
that may change the way you look at the issue of 9/11's unanswered
questions.

Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high
places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor
to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people
until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is
destroyed." --Abraham Lincoln, November 12, 1864
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military- industrial complex." --President Dwight D. Eisenhower, January 17, 1961
